Saying Good Bye

It is never, ever easy...
and we have had to say good bye to many of our pets...
all of them passed from old age and illness....

It was hard....

watching them decline and knowing that the end was near...

but last night, we watched as the end came fast and furious for our sweet kitty, Memow.

She was not sick one day and very sick the next and last night...

we had to make that dreaded decision, the one you know in your head is right but the one that your heart screams no.

Memow just showed up one day and never left.  I didn't even want to keep her because...

I am not a cat person!  Heh!

However, she insisted and how could I say no?  She wanted to stay in a house with (at the time), 4 kids and 4 dogs!  I thought she was crazy but she knew exactly what she was doing!

Not only did she want to stay but she chose the one person in the house who is NOT a cat person to attach herself to!

Told ya she knew what she was doing.  That little kitty with the broken tail quickly turned me into a cat person won me over as well as the dogs!  She would accompany us on our walks and thought nothing of hitting the dogs up for a quick nuzzle if she needed one.

She loved Caleb's home school and would plant herself right on top of whatever we happen to be trying to study, leaving a trail of cat hair behind.

Memow, you were so loved and are so missed.

Our home and our naps just won't be the same without you.

I promise to fill in the details of the job and what it will mean for our family - soon!

  1. Awww, I am sorry. That is hard :(. I am so excited to hear your hubby has a job!! PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear the details!

  2. I'm so sorry. The passing is always so sad, and you relive the passing of all the other ones that went before too, I think, just a little an aside, I've ALWAYS wanted a cat, and even tried baiting my front porch with cat food once, to attract a atray but nothing doing. I blame the dogs, and refuse to believe it's ME that they don't like! :)

  3. Annie, I am sorry about sweet memow! I have had one cat in my life. When she passed, I cried for days and I didn't even want her. I know your heart hurts. Love you! Angie

  4. Awww. My heart hurts for you guys. That's so hard:(

  5. So sorry for your loss. I know pets are part of the family. I miss my doggies that have passed every day.

  6. I am so sorry for the loss of Memow. It is so painful to lose a family pet. If you get a chance, check out the book "Cat Heaven" from the library. It is so sweet and helps the kids understand. Of course, the hardest part is reading out loud without crying:) Hugs to you and your family today.

  7. Oh Annie, I was so thrilled to hear your hubby got a job, and now really sad to hear about your loss. You guys continue to be in my prayers.

  8. So sorry for your loss! It never is easy! So excited to see you are adding another addition to your home. How wonderful!

  9. I'm really sorry Annie! I know that is hard. So sorry for your kiddos too!!!! Sorry to cram two comments in one (especially this one),but I wanted to see congrats on your hubby's new job. It certainly has been the road less traveled for you all and I'm glad to see everything falling into place as you have held on to your faith continually during this time. Yea!!!

  10. So very hard, Annie! I'm so sorry for your loss. What a sweet kitty.
