To the beach, that is!
Our recent little mini vaca was at our favorite little beach and it was just what this stressed out family needed. After a summer full of financial worries, we really needed to leave it behind for a bit.
However, coming home has me longing for our beach, our little, no video game, no Internet, no shopping mall and no worries, beach.
We were able to spend time together as a family....
and really enjoy just being together....
and playing together....
and relaxing - together!
As always when we go there, my thoughts turn to living there, pulling everyone out of school and just living there, simply and stress free!
Usually these thoughts come after a frozen Margarita on the back porch as we watch the dolphins play in the creek...
and the kids are exhausted and quiet after a full day on the beach collecting shells or on my Dad's old boat - skiing and tubing and fishing!
I know that just as our actual reality has it's pros and cons, the reality of actually living at our little beach wouldn't always be sipping frozen Margaritas on the back porch while the kids are quiet - in real life the kids . are . never . quiet!!! Heh!
However, it would be a simpler life and it would be an adventure and it is something that I have always thought about, every single time we go to our little beach.
Maybe one day?
As for now, we are back and have already met teachers and gotten books and supplies and are so not ready for summer to end!!!
Please be patient with me as I ease back into blogging. I must admit that it was awfully nice to be "unplugged" for a little while as I played with my family! I will continue with my Wonderful Waiting Kids posts, next week! Hang in there with me!!!
Welcome back to the real world! I know what you mean. Last year we had that beach condo in Daytona Shores that we won at the half-the-sky auction and it was sooooooo very nice to just have the time to do NOTHING! We went to the beach and the pool everyday. On no particular schedule what-so-ever! Then we went to the pool and watched Little House on the Prairie episodes every. single. night! I wish to be back there all the time!
ReplyDeleteWhere is this beach? I wanna go! haha
ReplyDeleteAnnie! WHat beach is this? We just got back from Hilton Head a couple weeks ago... but I would like something more low-key and less commercial for next time. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteOh and it looks like your kids had a blast!!
Thanks!
Karrie

What beautiful photos! It looks like you had an amazing time together as a family.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think we were gone, too. I took off for the vacuum and the dust rag. The schoolbooks and the creating-rooms-for-little-boys thing.
ReplyDeleteNo beach for us this summer. Maybe next summer. Glad to visit yours vicariously.
Beautiful pictures and I can only imagine how much you must long for a simpler life sometimes. Glad you were all able to get away.
ReplyDeleteOhhh Edisto... I remember going there every summer when I was growing up. That place holds lots of good memories for me! Thanks for sharing your pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful family time and photos, Annie! Glad you were able to unplug and enjoy for awhile! Love the photos! There's one of Lizzie swirling around in the white dress that is just absolutely precious! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great rest of the weekend!
