Bless the Little Children

"See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven."  Matthew 18:10

OK, so you know how the Lord just blesses us every time we seem to need it?

Well, for the past 2 days, this wait has gotten to me just a smidge and this morning, it showed as I was pouting because I had to stay here and clean the house to get ready for our open house tomorrow.

Ya see, Charlie had his first 2 games of the season today - a double header and I really wanted to go but nooooo, I had to clean!

Who would think that 5 kids, 4 dogs, 2 cats and a pack rat hubby would require an all day clean for an open house?

Phooey!

Well, anyway, as I cleaned, I began to pray and clean and clean and pray and you know what?  As I was praying and cleaning, I got a text from a very sweet friend of mine.

Dear Nicole asked me if I was going to be home for a while.

I told her that, yep, I am cleaning - phooey!

So, she asked if she could stop by for a minute.

I said YES, PLEASE!

Wasn't going to put her to work, mind you, but as least she would allow me a break!!

So, I took one look in the mirror and decided I had better put my mop hair up so to not scare anyone and just continue to pray and clean until she arrived.

A little while later, sweet Nicole was at my front door - with her middle son "C" and a friend of his!

As soon as I opened the door precious "C" who had just turned 7 years old, handed me a box...

(just a pause here while I grab a tissue - good gravy, I can't even type it without crying)

"C" looked up at me with those big gorgeous eyes of his and ever so sweetly told me that this was for our adoption!!!

You see, "C" had just come from his birthday party and instead of asking for gifts for himself, he asked for everyone to bring a donation to our precious, waiting daughter!!!!!

(ok another pause here while I go get the box of tissues)

As you can imagine, I was crying and hugging and hugging and crying.

This incredible child gave what he had to give, what every single child waits for all year long and he did it with a joyful, caring, giving heart, not expecting to get anything in return but giving just because his beautiful heart was moved by the Lord for another child half way across the world, who may not have ever known a birthday.

I started with a verse from Matthew and now I have to end with one, well 3:

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."  Matthew 18:1-3

I pray that my heart can be as pure and giving and loving as "C's" heart.

Of course in the midst of all the hugging and crying, I completely forgot to take any pics so I just had to post this one from Caleb's birthday party - 4 years ago!

He and Em were, ahem, talking!!  Isn't he precious!

Thank you "C"

You are a treasure and I know your sweet Momma is so proud of you!

  1. Oh my! What a beautiful gift from the Lord, through the hands of a child! I am moved... wanting to be, as the Lord says, like a child once more. What can I sacrifice so that I can again know the joy of being the hands and feet of the Lord himself. Thank you for passing on your blessing to us tonight, Annie! Enjoy every twist and turn of this precious journey! Hugs, Lori

  9. I read this story to my daughter and next thing I know she is secretly calling her friends to tell them to bring an adoption donation instead of a gift. And that is what they did! Thank you for sharing and tell "C" that his actions caused another one to act.
